Veronica & Thomas – Spruce Mountain Ranch
Veronica and Thomas were married on a beautiful November day at Spruce Mountain Ranch.
I first met Veronica on a commercial photo shoot several years ago. She jumped in front of the camera to model with the products we were photographing. Some of the products happened to be champagne glasses and, of course, we came prepared with the champagne to properly demonstrate the products. There were so many belly laughs and it was one of those days that I had felt so grateful for the connected created through my photography. It was then, drinking champagne in the morning in a park in Louisville, that I thought to myself, “it would be so fun to be her wedding photographer some day!”. I wasn’t even sure if she as in a relationship, or already married, but lucky for me, I got the email from her a little over a year later that she was newly engaged and wanted to meet to discuss wedding photography…. I was thrilled!
One think I knew about Veronica from working with her, was that she was a planner and a detail person. She had thought of everything and was well ahead of schedule. The first time we met she already had such a clear vision for their day. This gave us the chance to chat about other things and get to know each other. I loved hearing about how she and her fiance, Thomas, met, fell in love and added pets to their family.
On the morning of their wedding I started the day out with my favorite pre-wedding ritual, a run to my music. This is a chance for me to visualize and prepare for the day. I think through the “must have” photos and also some that I haven’t tried before. It was a very warm day for November and I was thrilled that Veronica and Thomas would get the outdoor ceremony that they hoped for.
Following the ceremony we took photos against a beautiful orange sunset in the field outside the reception site. The timing was perfect and the light was stunning! I had a hard time letting them go, but we finished on time to get them to the guests that awaited them.
Following dinner we heard speeches from friends and siblings and then went into first dance.Veronica and Thomas promised me a real good dance party (because that photographs well!) and boy did they deliver! I could not leave the dance floor because I feared I’d miss some of the awesomeness!! It was one of the most energetic and joyous parties I’ve been to. In the middle of it wall, Veronica and Thomas celebrated with their people. A beautiful day, venue and couple. I couldn’t have asked for a better November day for this couple!
