Michelle & Chris / Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison CO

A beautiful summer wedding at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Michelle and Chris celebrated with family, friends and music.

These guys had me at Phish, micro brews and rescue dogs! After spending a couple hours talking about our favorite bands, beers and dog-babies, I asked if they had any questions about my work. This was truly a match made in heaven, and I’m not just talking about Michelle and Chris! We clicked from the start and I could not have been happier when Michelle asked me to document their day.

A bit different from other weddings I photographed, Michelle and Chris both wanted to get married at home. Chris had the downstairs and Michelle had the upstairs. Family and friends were in and out and the energy through out the morning was so joyous and supportive. Even their dog, Snacks, was part of the process.

Chris left for Red Rocks and Michelle got into her dress while her nieces looked on adoringly. We got some sweet pictures of Michelle with her family and then she was off to the venue in her friends sprinter van!

Red Rocks never disappoints and this Sunday morning in mid August was no exception. The green grass against the Red Rock is so unique and I love putting couples agains the vibrant colors. Throughout the ceremony Michelle and Christ (to my delight) weaved in lyrics from their favorite bands. The ceremony was officiated my Chris’s dad and his words to them were thoughtful and emotional. It was a beautiful ceremony and I was in my element with the beautiful natural landscape and the love that was so deeply felt between these beautiful souls.

After we took family photos we sent everyone off to the cocktail hour (morning ceremony = boody marys and mimosas!!). I had Michelle and Chris to myself! We hopped in the car and headed for the tunnel. Michelle and Chris were great sports about waiting out traffic and then jumping in the road for a few shots. Next on their list was a photo in the amphitheater! They were greeted with a standing ovation by the many people visiting.

We finished up and got them to the party in time for some drinks and bags with their friends and family. The room was so pretty and had great person touches that Michelle dreamed up. The energy of the day never lagged and it was oh so clear that these two are loved and supported by their friends any family. I’m look forward to catching up with these two for a beer real soon!
