a bride wears a flower crown and hugs her groom during a summit county elopement

Katie and Will came to me via a dear friend who was unable to photograph their wedding. I had this date available and was happy that I could step in to help document this incredible day. Katie and I had a couple of chats before their day, but there wasn’t a whole lot of time to get to know each other. I knew enough about her and Will going into the day to know that we’d be a great fit! They brew their own beer, love to see live music and Red Rocks, and enjoy spending time with their friends and family.

We started the day off at the Breckinridge VRBO. Katie slipped into her incredible dress and then we went to the back yard for a few photos with her girlfriends. The scene was beautifully decorated with a teepee, vintage quilts, flowers, lace, and twinkle lights. It was clear that Katie and Will put a lot of thought into the feel of their reception site and they had many hands involved with making the vision a reality.

The next stop was Dillon Reservoir where Will would see Katie for the first time as she came down the aisle. Katie’s talented mother played the guitar and sand as Katie entered on her dad’s arm with her beautiful flowers by Alyssa Marie Floral. The ceremony was performed by their brother-in-law. It was personal and touching. Will is a hockey player and he even included a little competitive play with a puck drop! Katie and Will’s faithful dog was right there through the ceremony and even took part in the first dance.

Following photos at Dillon Reservoir, the party moved to the VRBO where guests enjoyed a catered dinner from Katie and Will’s favorite Denver restaurant, Eat with Safta, and their very own homebrew! After some wonderful toasts and dances, the celebration continued on the quilts and around the fire. A very beautiful August night to celebrate Katie and Will!!
