This summer Cassidy and I had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica to photograph middle and high school groups participating in international student travel programs with Global Works – International Community Service. We participated in community service, ate local food, learned about the culture, played soccer with the local kids, learned about deforestation AND learned to surf through our experienced leaders and local partners of Global Works. Through my camera, I was able to capture teens (and Cass) transition from cautious observers to active participants. In the short time I spent with each group, I witnessed kids become more confident, more open to different possibilities and more passionate about life! This is an amazing opportunity for teens to experience service, community and to travel alongside the incredible Global Works staff. A huge THANK YOU to Polly and Fritz Moriarty for the opportunity to be part of something so impactful and inspirational, built through years of passion, professionalism and persistence. Thank you also to the INCREDIBLE trip leaders for creating such a meaningful and memorable experience for Cass and I. Every aspect of the trip exceeded my expectations and, without a doubt, shaped Cassidy’s understanding of our world. Go on over and like the Global Works for updates on their 2016 programs. If you have teenagers in your life, I highly recommend this life transforming experience.
