Eileen and Chris planned much of their wedding while Eileen was working as a traveling nurse in Minnesota and then Seattle. She’d travel home to Denver to see Chris and plan for their September wedding at Winding River Ranch in Grand Lake.  They incorporated many DIY details and enlisted their friends and family to help, creating a very personal feel to their wedding celebration.

On a beautiful Saturday in September, Eileen started her day in a cabin with her bridesmaids, while Chis and the guys hung around another cabin down the dirt road. Hair and make up for Eileen and her bridesmaids was done beautifully by ahhh Mobile Spa. Eileen changed from her flannel to her gorgeous wedding gown that she found on a trip back home to Minneapolis (The Wedding Shoppe). She was on her way to meet her handsome groom in front of the reception area barn for their first look. The wedding party and family joined them after for some fun and natural wedding photos before the ceremony.

As guests came down their aisle to take their seats, they were wowed by the resident moose strolling along the river that flowed behind the ceremony site. A mutual friend of the couple performed a very personal and loving ceremony, with readings by Chris’s sisters. Under a Colorado blue bird day, Eileen and Chris sealed the deal with the ring exchange and a kiss before making their way to their cocktail hour greet their guests and join in on the lawn games. As the guests enjoyed themselves, the final details were being taken care of in the reception tent. Eileen and Chris had chose details that highlighted the places they both come from and locations they have traveled together over the years. The reception sprinkled in themes from Eileen’s favorite movie “Up”… most importantly was the theme of living a life of adventure, which Eileen and Chris have certainly done together!

Eileen and Chris are craft beer lovers and enlisted a friend to create special brews for their day. The process took a good part of the year, but was well worth the time and effort. On their wedding day guests enjoyed the special beer, named for the couple i.e. “Hoff-weizen”, in custom glasses designed by the bride. The flower girls dresses were handmade by the mother of the bride and the owner of the “Pig Rig” was also a friend who came up from Denver to cater the event. Winding River Ranch provided a breathtaking back drop, which perfectly suited this outdoor loving couple. Flowers by Moonlight Iris adorned the reception tent and complimented the custom table decor. The barn was a great place for the wedding party photos, and later a romantic setting for the couple to take photos at sunset. It was a perfect celebration that went into early morning hours. A couple days later they were off to Croatia on yet another adventure!
