Brooke & Mason Carbondale, IL

Brooke and Mason were married by Mason’s mom at a church in Carbondale IL. Flollowing their ceremony the celebrating at a school that was founded by his grandmother.

Brooke and Mason invited me to Carbondale to photograph their wedding day after I documented their Boulder elopement at The Flagstaff House in Boulder. I was thrilled to get on a plane and do something different from my Colorado mountain weddings. And it was different in the best ways! The estate where Brooke got ready for the day was nothing short of stunning! I was blown away by the design every time I turned a corner. The room that Brooke got ready in had the most beautiful wall paper with velvet curtains. But, even more beautiful than this fancy mansion, was the bride, Brooke. Every detail that she put together for her day was classy and elegant. She was breathtaking and I had the joy of photographing the reaction of every person who saw her the first time…. especially her soon to be husband, Mason.

Following their emotional first look, we went right into family photos and then right off to the church for the ceremonial. Mason’s mom had the honor of marrying them. The reluctant flower girl had second thoughts about going down the aisle. Half way down she did a 180 and bolted for the door, but Uncle Mason came to the rescue and sweetly carried her down to her mom. The ceremony was full of sentiment and emotion. As Brooke and Mason headed for Mason’s antique care that awaited them, the guests lined the exit and blew bubbles for them!

The reception was another very special detail of the day. It was at the school that Mason’s grandmother started when Mason was a kid. It was truly amazing to see what they were able to do with the space. The gymnasium was converted into a gorgeous space with romantic lighting and personal touches throughout.

For the mother / son dance mom had a surprise in store for Mason, making for another emotional moment! Mason’s good friends from high school performed the song that they danced to together. The whole place was in tears.

It was such an honor to be part of this day and it meant the world to me that Brooke and Mason were willing to fly me in to be their photographer. I loved exploring a new place and getting to know this couple so well throughout the process.
