Louisville AM sessions (Keith Heart Park):
Not sure what to expect with a mini session? No problem, here are some common asked questions about my minis:
What is a mini session?
A mini session is just that - a shortened photography session that gives you the chance to sample the photographer's work at a reduced cost. Where a normal session can include 1-2 hours of shooting, multiple locations, a gallery of 40-60 photos to choose from, a mini offers a shorter time, a small number of edited photos and a lower price. Your family arrives at the predetermined location, dressed and ready to go, and we spend 20 minutes capturing family photos, kid/sibling photos, individual shots and if time allows and a few candid shots. A full session allows for many more unscripted moments, but with 20 minutes, we are just going for the basics so that you have updated photos of your family.
Mini sessions are not suitable for babies that are not able to sit unassisted or those looking for a variety of poses or multiple backgrounds or outfits.
What time should I arrive?
These sessions go by quickly. Please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled time. This will help to ensure that all faces are clean and shoes are tied. Please also be sure to wipe those noses and to have a tissue on hand in case we need more wiping :)
Can I bring my dog?
Sure! Your pets are part of your family. I would love to include your dog in your family photos, just be aware that it can take extra time to get dogs situated for a family shot. Treats are a great idea to keep their attention!
What should we wear and can we change outfits during our session?
I like bright colors and layers. Consider adding cute hats, headbands, tights, boots and jean jackets for some fun flare. Knits are fabulous and textured fabrics. No need to match outfits, but try to coordinate colors. Also, dress for the weather! Remember to keep it simple, no big, busy designs or logos and stick to just a few key colors. A 20 minute session is not a lot of time, please do not plan on changing outfits.
Pinterest is a great source of inspiration so feel free to take a look at my "what to wear" boards
When will my photos be ready?
Your gallery will be up for viewing within 14 days (though I will strive for sooner). You will receive a link to your gallery by email.
How can I order prints?
Your gallery will include the option to order prints and a 20% discount if you order within the first week. Please keep in mind that a one hour lab can compromise the quality of the image, especially the color. If you are using your photos for gifts or wall art, I highly recommend a pro lab to maintain the quality of your photographs. Please let me know if I can answer any questions about your print order. (hint: I plan to have a holiday sale for prints around Thanksgiving!)
Do you offer any other products?
Why, yes, I do! I can put your photo on a canvas for a beautiful gift for the grandparents. I also offer albums. Please contact me for pricing if you are interested in either of these items.
What if it's cloudy out the day of the shoot?
If it's cloudy, I will be thrilled! Clouds mean that we don't have to worry about shadows or squinting. (If it is sunny, I will also be thrilled!) If it's raining or snowing, I will send out an email about whether mini sessions will be rescheduled. Since these sessions are only 20 minutes, I do not reschedule because of cold or wind. Currently, the weather looks good, but a little chilly.
What if I have to cancel?
Please be aware that these sessions fill up quickly and often have to turn people away. If you have to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible so I can attempt to fill your spot. If you have to cancel at the last minute, please call me on my cell phone (720-937-1881). Please make sure that your schedule is clear before you commit to a time slot.
Any tips for our session?
These sessions are meant to be fun and playful. Bribes really help. Please come ready with giggles and tickles, smiles and hugs and a playful heart! Leave the hard work to me and try to keep your eyes at the camera (it’s very common to get a smiley kid pic, but parents are focused on kiddo and not camera). Minis tend to be more posed because of the short time. If you prefer candids, just let me know when we meet. If you have any concerns or special requests, please let me know before the session.
