Family Session FAQ
What is included in our session?
The session fee includes session time at the location of your choice, full resolution (but often more), edited images, an online gallery, and printing rights.
How many family members are included?
The session pricing includes immediate family members (dog included). If you plan to have extended family join for the session, please contact me for custom pricing.
What is your style?
I have an educational background in journalism. When I meet with you and your family, my goal is to document a glimpse of your life. I pay a lot of attention to detail and emotion. While I will direct you towards lighting and backgrounds, I try to minimize the number of cues that I give. I find that this helps to make the photos look more natural. I also aim to get you several family portraits (looking at the camera), as well as portraits of each child and both parents
Where do sessions take place?
I am a natural light photographer (whenever possible) and do not work in a studio. I have found that living in Colorado provides plenty of beautiful backdrops to photograph your family against. I also do a lot of ‘on-location work and will gladly come to your home for a session, or I can suggest a park for open space. The details of the location will be worked out when we book your session.
When will my photos be ready?
Your photos will be available for viewing and for purchase through the online gallery two weeks from the date of our session (but often sooner).
What should I wear for our session?
My advice is to dress your family casually and comfortably. Dress appropriately for the weather and avoid lots of stripes and patterns. Accessories such as scarves, hats, tights, and jewelry are a nice addition. If you like to coordinate colors with your family, I recommend dressing in a similar tone, but don't try too hard to 'match'. Show your personality! Also, feel free to bring props... your child's favorite 'lovey', a blanket, lollipops, bikes, pets, superhero costumes... whatever makes you and your children happy and comfortable.
What if it's cloudy on the day of our session?
If it's cloudy, I will be thrilled! Clouds mean that we don't have to worry about shadows or squinting. (If it is sunny, I will also be thrilled!) If it's raining, I will be in contact with you to discuss a plan.
What if we have to cancel?
Please be aware that summer and fall sessions fill up quickly. If you have to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible so I can attempt to fill your spot. If you have to cancel last minute, please call me on my cell phone (720-937-1881). Please respect my time and make sure that your schedule is clear before you commit to a time slot.
What products do you offer?
I will send you a link to your gallery when your photos are ready. From here you can view your photos, share your photos with family. You and anyone you share the link with can order print, albums, cards, and canvases! Need something special? Let me know and I'm happy to help you with an order.
